In this project we had multiple assignments. The whole class got broken into groups, and got assigned chapters to contribute to the overall documentary. We were hoping to inform people about our drought here in California. We want people to help save water because if we don't, we will eventually run out. We divided the work up by groups. There were twelve different groups, and each group got a different chapter to put into the documentary. Each chapter was three to four minutes.
We had four different jobs in this project within in our groups. We had Directors; Sarah & Chandler, Director of photography; Jeffery, Media Wrangler; Karyne, and the writer; Myself. My groups chapter is about water pollution. I helped edit a lot of the interview in the chapter. I also learned how to put B-roll on a video using the application Final Cut Pro. In our video we communicated that people use storm drains as trash cans, and that runs into the ocean and kills marine life. We used sad music and lots of pictures.
My group made two water saving tips, one direct and one indirect. The indirect was buying in season fruits and vegetables. The direct was using a rain barrel to catch rain water. We communicated that using a rain barrel will help save you a lot of water, and with that water you could water your plants, and doing the dishes. We used people narrating the video to help explain what is going to help you save water.
This project has helped me think about my water use more. I have tried to use less water and always take the car to a car wash, and not wash it on your street. I learned to value all the work that my teammates do to help me.
